Things To Do When Everyone's Asleep

Read the Bible and actually pay attention.
Practice singing- silently.
Drink coffee while it's still hot.
Iron a pretty skirt you haven't worn in a long time.
Make something to go with it!

"The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land." Song of Solomon 2:12

Menu Plan

We're avoiding restaurants this week- been going out too much lately, with birthdays, etc. Making a week-long plan is such a time saver, and putting it on the bloggette means I can refer back to it in the future when I need fresh ideas! (Although this week's plan is a little strange...trying to use what's on hand instead of going to the shop this week.) Why didn't I think of it before? I'll still have the hand-written one hanging on the fridge- love those magnetic menu planning/shopping list pads of paper from the dollar bin at Michael's =*)

Monday: Crustless Quiche, Strawberry Spinach Salad
Tuesday: Ho-made Mac-n-Cheese, cabbage, fruit salad
Wednesday: rice pilaf, steamed broccoli, hard boiled eggs
Thursday: Burgers on the grill, Oven fries, generic salad
Friday: Tuna steaks on the grill, chicken dogs for the kids, Asian cabbage salad
Saturday: Chicken Riggies in the CrockPot
Sunday: Cheesy Potato Soup (CrockPot), Bread machine bread with Ho-made Pesto

Mal's Closet Craft Tote

Here it is! First attempt at the craft tote. The inside is lined with fleece batting, the outer ring of pockets with interfacing. Lining the bottom with cardboard really helped with stability, but the sides need a bit more oomph. The pattern could possibly be combined with this basket tutorial from jezzeblog to make something even better =*)

Makes a nice home for a bunch of binders and notebooks...maybe it isn't Mal's craft tote after all...

Card 411

So I finally got around to making a couple of cards. I stitched them! The one on the left, busy as it is, seems to be missing something...

Happy Pi Day

Do you love pi? We love pi AND pie! I made these Pasteis de Nata today while Punk gave a lesson on pi to Ainsley and Feeloi. (Nerd alert!) I only used one sheet of puff pastry, and we dusted the top with cinnamon and powdered sugar. We had these for the first time at Christmas- my sister-in-law's mom is Portuguese and she made them. They are DEADLY!

Petits Oiseaux

Here's my little bird cross stitch that I don't know what to do with...any suggestions? It's about 1" x 5". Maybe a bookmark? I could add a verse to the top half and just frame it...don't know!

I'll post pics of the craft tote as a semi-tutorial for ya when I can get to it...pretty busy making tree costumes at the moment. Shoon =*)

Inaugural Post

Am I really doing it? Posting to my very own blog? Hopefully this is a picture of the little cherry tarts I told you about =*)

Recipe:
1 can of 8 refrigerated biscuits
1 pkg cream cheese, softened
1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar
Cherry preserves

Cut the biscuits in half to make 16 little pie shells, and put them in a greased muffin tin. Combine the cream cheese and sugar, and spoon into the shells. Top with a little dollop of cherry preserves and bake. I followed the temp./time recommendations on the biscuit packaging. Fun!

Sunday, March 14, is "Pi Day" so I might be making these again!
